Description
Think One Team, developed by performance psychologist Graham Winter, is a framework designed to help organisations overcome siloed thinking and foster unity. It equips leaders with simple yet powerful tools to build connected, cohesive teams. The approach emphasises alignment, collaboration and learning across all levels within an organisation; supported by a united leadership model, practical collaboration tools, and the processes to enable the establishment of a “one team” culture (Systems Thinking).
Who
The initiative was driven by the Leadership Team, Wellbeing Committee and the People and Culture Team and is an all of organisational approach.
How
It was identified that no existing intentional cultural development strategy effectively united or aligned the organisation. Over several months, the leadership team explored various models before selecting the Think One Team – United Leadership model. The program was delivered by a staff member who was an accredited Think One Team practitioner.
An organisational wide alignment assessment was undertaken based on the Think One Team – United Leadership model. Facilitated sessions were then conducted to address identified development areas implementing the suite of Think One Team tools. At the same time there was a soft rollout, integrating the Think One Team messaging into organisational communications to build awareness and engagement.
The introduction of a new leadership model is a transformational change for the organisation and on-going.
Outcome
The Think One Team model has strengthened communication and collaboration across departments. It’s delivered improved efficiency and more cohesive decision-making processes which has enhanced employee and management satisfaction and employee empowerment.
The organisation is more collaborative and considered in their decision making and problem solving with teams considering how their decisions impact others and fostering a culture of shared responsibility to resolve critical business issues.
